Swann's Way (Du côté de chez Swann), the first volume of In Search of Lost Time, was published in 1913. In Swann's Way, a narrator interrupts reminiscences about his childhood spent in late-nineteenth-century France to recall the affair which a friend of his family carries on with young Odette de Crecy.
